Cabinet Restoration Claims
Course Description:

Most cabinetry can be cleaned, repaired and restored back to pre-loss or like, quality & kind
(LQK) condition if you are working with properly trained technicians. Replacing home or
business cabinetry and countertops due to damage from fire, water, vandalism or smoke can
cost a lot of money. Identifying and understanding when cabinetry can be restored instead of
replaced is very important in the claims process for all parties involved.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

● Identify and understand different cabinet grade types
● Identify and understand the different parts of cabinets
● Identify and understand the different types of materials used in cabinetmaking and
factors that influence cabinet value
● Understand how to identify and assess the severity of water and fire damaged cabinets
● Understanding how to value a kitchen
● Identify when an Emergency Cabinet Removal (ECR) is necessary and understanding
the ECR process and its benefits
● Understand the process of how cabinets are rebuilt and restored

Course Description:

Damage to cabinets and furniture in a home or office as a result of flooding, smoke, and fire, or vandalism can be very costly. It is important to recognize when and how money can be saved by repairing, cleaning, and restoring items like furniture, cabinets, flooring, millwork, and more instead of opting for a full replacement. Understanding the claims process as it relates to these types of restorations is particularly important for everyone involved in the transaction.

  • Understand how repair and restoration of furniture and cabinets fit into the claim process
  • Determine when restoration is an appropriate option.
